The Swedish Kidney Foundation – Insamlingsstiftelsen Njurfonden
Njurfonden was formed in 2013 in order to raise funds to support scientific research in accordance with the aims of the foundation.
Njurfonden was founded by The Swedish Kidney Association, The National Association of Nephrologist, The National Association of Transplant Surgeons and The National Association of Renal Nurses.
Njurfonden is approved and annually audited by The Swedish Fundraising Control -Svensk Insamlingskontroll. This is a guarantee that all donations will be used in accordance with the aims of the foundation.
Since 2013 the foundation’s capital has increased by about SEK 16 million. Njurfonden has supported renal research with SEK 7 million during the same period. The total annual demand for financing renal research is around SEK 100 million.
Njurfonden aims to grow and become a major foundation in Sweden. Kidney failure is common and is both a hidden and a widespread disease. There is an urgent need for research into treatments preventing the progress of different kinds of kidney disease as well as treatments that will prolong the life of kidney patients.
